The Banff

This cafe is on Fitzroy Street in St. Kilda. As Canadians abroad, Susan and I felt we had a patriotic duty to eat there, and so we met there for a pre-Christmas dinner recently.

The Banff was originally owned in 1942 by a Canadian. There's not much that's typically Canadian about the menu now. In fact, I think you could call it Mod Oz/Italian. There's lots of pumpkin and rocket (arugula) on the pizzas...(that's VERY Aussie!), and no back bacon as we recognize it. Still yummy, though...and Monday and Tuesday is half price night!

Pah,
So enjoy the scholarly weave of intrigue, vice and linguistic interest you've crafted in the Paola, Down Under blog. Excellent!

Bravo for The Banff. Arugula is truly international--can't be claimed by the Italians even. We did so enjoy the restaurants in Sydney and surrounds, including Manley.

We are off to England, a foray to colonize the Mother Land. I will raise my Guiness, or substitute, and toast my clever neice!! Good on ya!. Love and Merry Christmas!

A Happy Christmas to you, Aunt Katie and all in the Queen's England!
