Rice fields

Pictures don't really do it justice, but the Tegalalang Rice Fields are pretty impressive. Terraces as far as you can see. So green and lush.

At lunch....

Elephants

We hired a driver one day to take us 13 km east to Taro. The Elephant Safari Park is there, and we wanted to see, feed, pat and ride some elephants. Every drive is an adventure in Bali. The lanes are merely suggestions, and traffic rules are pretty ad hoc. we drove through villages and rice fields, pausing every now and then for a photo on our way there.

Lots of koi in shady pools at the park.

Elephants!! Feeding them.....

And the elephant ride....

Ella and my elephant was named "Pati". She is 25 years old and has a baby elephant daughter. She is originally from Sumatra, and her trainer came across from SUmatra with her 10 years ago.

Jack and Scott on board.

Documenting the experience.

First Day

There was a lot to take in, and our first day was about wandering through the Ubud Market and the Sacred Monkey Forest.

Breakfast was always yummy.

Bali Bound!

We arrived in time to fully enjoy the duty free zone in the Melbourne International Airport. The flight was easy and while we arrived at our accommodation late at night, we woke up to this:

These two were wandering around the garden:

We called this guy Jeff.

... And this one we called Bamboo.
